অহংকারী মানুষ কেন নিজের দোষ খুঁজে পায় না?

অহংকারের ধর্মই হল মানুষকে অন্ধ করে দেওয়া এবং অন্ধ করে রাখা। শ্রীশ্রীচণ্ডীতে এই অহংকারেরই নাম 'ধূম্রলোচন'। ধূম্রালোচনের কাজ আমাদের দৃষ্টিকে ধুমায়িত করে রাখা এবং স্পষ্টভাবে জগতকে দেখতে না দেওয়া। কেউ অহংকারী হয়েছে মানে তার মধ্যে ধূম্রলোচন নামের অসুরটি ভর করেছে। তাই অহংকারীকে তার করা অন্যায়গুলো চোখে আঙুল দিয়ে দেখিয়ে দিলেও সে দেখতে পায় না। অহংকারের পাহাড় হতে যখন একটা-দু'টো করে করে পাথরের চাঁই ভেঙে পড়তে থাকে, অহংকারী মানুষ কেবল তখনই একটু একটু করে নিজের দোষ দেখতে সক্ষম হয়, তার আগে নয়। আগুনে ঘর না পোড়া পর্যন্ত মানুষ আগুনের ভয়াবহতা বুঝতে পারে না। চোখ থাকতে অন্ধ কে? অহংকারী ছাড়া আবার কে!

The virtue of ego is what blinds people and keeps them blind.  In Sri Sri Chandi this ego is called 'Dhumralochana'.  The function of smoke is to cloud our vision and prevent us from seeing the world clearly.  Someone who has become arrogant means that the demon called Dhumralochana has filled him.  Therefore, even if the wrongdoings are pointed out to the arrogant, he does not see them.  When one or two large stones fall from the mountain of ego, the proud man is only able to see his faults little by little, and not before.  People do not understand the horror of fire until the house burns down.  Who is blind to have eyes?  Who else but arrogant!
